Join us to celebrate the closing of our newly painted shutters at the end of the working day on Sunday 20 October, from 5.30pm for drinks, closing starts at 6pm.
Over the summer of 2013, Castlefield Gallery (CG) has commissioned artist Nina Chua to make an artwork for the existing metal shutters that ‘wrap’ around the gallery when the gallery is closed. CG and Chua are very pleased with the results and are now ready to ‘unveil’ the painted shutters.
This commission was funded by Arts Council England through their Grants for the Arts scheme as part of the CG organisation development project over the past 2 years. Huge thanks also goes to artist Tasha Whittle who has applied the artwork to the shutters with incredible skill and ingenuity.
So come and celebrate this new permanent artwork with us on Sunday 20 October, starting at 5:30pm.
A creative workshop at Z-Arts as part of Trinity Arts with year 7. I introduced them to the idea of ‘Note to Self’ (notes written in moments of madness and or clarity) creating cosmic’s and my way of working. Which is normally listening to music whilst drawing subconsciously and looking at what the cosmic’s have created to see what is beyond the page. It was awesome and the art work created is truly inspiring.
Sketch City retrospective held at the Bench Self Made Gallery held in April. As well as exhibiting in the show I co-curated it with Jonny Dub, the man who started this wonderful event back in 2005. It was a wonderful feeling having everyone from Sketch City back together and drawing as well as exhibiting the other artists who had drawn with us along the way. Artists involved: KREK, Moot, MissLed, Sri Mckinnon, Hammo, Lispencie, Yeti, Benjamino, Tasha Whittle, Tankpetrol, Ennui, TeaOne, Starvin Artist, Laurie Pink, EightBit, Mr Gauky.
Currently doing a Residency at the moment at Islington Mill. It is GREAT!
my Residency blog can be seen here.. http://loseandthengain.tumblr.com
A wonderfully eclectic mix of artists involved in the exhibition, here are some photos of the opening evening and some during the day.
I have recently customised a La Sardina DIY Lomography camera which will be exhibited at the Lomography Gallery Store East London on Thursday 17th January.
My camera will be exhibited alongside Kid Acne, Felt Misstress, Malarky, Pete Fowler, Supermundane, Gemma Correll, Donna Wilson and Chris Howker to name a few ace creatives!
My approach to the camera for resourceful and as per usual a bit daft, I saw the La Sardina camera as a bird.. that big flash had to be a head right…?
Using the little wooden bits you get when you buy pre made canvasses (due to my hording nature I had a tin box full) as my feathers I figured out the best way to present them onto the camera, then painted and glued them on.
I then didn’t like what i did and started again, so the photos to see here are the initial attempt and the finish product looks something similar, if not better. The back is painted all over and I also customised the coloured flash parts for different head pieces.
There will be free beers provided by Saint Beer So let them know how much you enjoy their brew at @EnjoySaint
Keep up to date with the exhibitions deets with #letsplaysardines
And HERE BEEEE the link on the lomography website.
Thanks to Lomography for asking me to do this, it was so much fun and a nice start to 2013!
According to Creative Review emerald green is the colour of 2013. Now i’m not normally one to follow trends, I just do what I like, especially when it comes to colours. I fancied a change from the sports grey ones i had been printing and these caught my eye. Love the colour! So get in ahead with next years trend and buy one of these jumpers from the online shop this year! (well.. 24 days)
Because i uploaded products into the shop! Technology you have beaten me today….
but i don’t care because this guy is ace.
